BISMARCK – Pride of Dakota Day was held Monday, July 20, at the North Dakota State Fair. Fairgoers enjoyed a grilled hot dog, potato chips, a cookie and milk for one dollar. FFA members from the Velva chapter assisted with the lunch. Proceeds from the lunch were donated to the North Dakota FFA Foundation and totaled $918.
“Thanks to everyone that came out for lunch and to support the FFA Foundation,” Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring said. “A special thank you to our sponsors and Pride of Dakota companies - Cloverdale Foods, Northland Potato Growers, Cass Clay Creamery, Pan-O-Gold Baking Company, Bone’s BBQ Sauce and Wild Willy’s Seasonings – for donating their products for the lunch.”
The new interactive Agriculture Acre area in the State Fair Center’s Magic Place was open 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily during the fair and attracted more than 18,000 visitors.
“Our new Agriculture Acre area was a great place for all ages to visit interactive agriculture exhibits, shop a Pride of Dakota Marketplace, sample recipes at the Pride of Dakota Culinary Experience and learn with free Ag in the Classroom activities,” Goehring said. “We heard lots of great comments about the new area and look forward to working with the State Fair to continue it in upcoming years.”
