Frequently Asked Questions:
Do my pets need to be tested?
There is need to carefully conserve testing resources and since COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that is being spread person to person, and because pets and livestock do not play a role in transmission of this disease, all pets do not need to be tested.

If a pet exhibits clinical signs that a licensed veterinarian thinks might requires further evaluation or testing, the veterinarian should call the state veterinarian’s office and a joint decision is to be made between the state veterinarian, public health veterinarian and the Area Veterinarian in Charge and NVSL to determine if testing is warranted.
