Applications are now being accepted for the Pride of Dakota Locals Foods for Schools grant. The program will help North Dakota schools bring more locally-produced foods into their meal programs by purchasing products from Pride of Dakota members. A total of $20,000 is available, with grants ranging from $2,000 - $4,000.
October is North Dakota Farm to School Month, celebrating the connection between schools, students and local food producers. Our schools are an important part of connecting students with the farmers, ranchers and food producers who help feed our state. This program gives schools an opportunity to serve more North Dakota products while helping students better understand where their food comes from.
North Dakota schools and school districts operating child nutrition programs are eligible to apply. Applicants must provide a 25% match.
Schools should focus their applications on how grant funds will increase the use of Pride of Dakota products in school meals, with a clear plan and budget showing how the funds will be spent.
Applications must be submitted in electronic form by 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2026. Late applications will not be accepted.
