Each year, harmful invasive weeds, plant pests and diseases cost the U.S. $40 billion in losses to cropland, grasslands, woody areas, forests and riparian areas, and expensive eradication and control efforts, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

BISMARCK – Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring has announced that applications are now being accepted for county fair resiliency grants. The grants can be used by county agriculture fair associations in the state for the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure projects. County agriculture fair associations or associations that run or manage a county fair in North Dakota are eligible to apply.

BISMARCK – The North Dakota Department of Agriculture (NDDA) is holding a Farm to School video essay contest open to all Bismarck Public Schools fourth grade classrooms. NDDA is producing a Farm to School video this summer that will highlight Farm to School activities in the state and local farms involved in the program. The winning classroom will receive a summer farm field trip and will be featured in the video.
